Bozos from Marietta Power
It was so amazing, hilarious, then frustrating and finally angry. Yesterday, while driving home with Yonsook from Tuesday regular Legio meeting at the church, Janet called the power went out at home around 2 pm. Probably another Rosewell road widening construction disrupted neighborhood power, we guessed it would last a hour again. My concern was more with home-servers than usual inconvenience. Thanks to the a bit cooler weather, a/c was not the primary concern this time.
Arriving at near our garage drive way, though, we found a few Marietta Power crew were working at the ‘box’ (transformer). That’s was the reason! They apparently did bother to give us any advance notice, which is probably ok if they figured, or estimated the outage would be reasonably short. One of the crew even let us know it would be around 20~25 minute thing. I thanked them for letting us know even now.
Now, hot afternoon made us very uncomfortable inside the house, but their 20 minute thingy becomes almost 4 hours now.. hmmm.. What’s going on? Looking outside.. well.. it’s quiet.. they’re gone! The day’s work apparently was done. Checking my next neighbor’s a/c units.. they’re humming very nicely! What’s happened? Only my house was without power still yet! Now, I am almost certain those bozos were so eager to call it day, headed home for dinner without turning power switch back on only for our house! This was almost like another small Kafka moment for the day (among others). Called ‘amazing’ Marietta Power, only recorded message welcome their ‘frustrated’ customer after hour. Luckily Janet managed to connect to a ‘real human’, got assured ’emergency crew’ is on the way in 45 minutes. A monster truck rolled in, the crew initially couldn’t believe the story we told them.. why not? It was so unbelievable, even hilarious! They did not turn the power switch back before closing the transformer box. Thanks, for nothing, Marietta Power!
